Demon's Souls!!!

Yeah, This is going to be the best shit ever. I need to get some good work in before this game comes out because it will consume my life. Read this review if you dont believe me!!

its funny how everyweek became once a season......

I have started issue 2(actually issue 3 please see previous post) of Critical Millenium. This is the working title and I believe that is how it will be published. I have not yet posted any images what so ever of this comic because I wasnt sure if I could. I suppose i will just have to post partial pages or just panels, i dont know. Its sorta been a pain in the ass for me to get going on this as I have been on a work hiatus for some time now. But its getting easier and I have been trying to work in a new way (seeeeecrets). Coming soon from, well, me i guess, is a new window image for use at the Time Machine (giant hobby shop in Manchester CT). They will put this in their new branch in Stratford. The image is 99 inches wide by 12 High.... i think perhaps i may create a repeating image. yeah thats the stuff. that way they print a roll!

The Old Ones

I might as well get this going again considering I have accomplished everything I was trying to do in the last 5 months or so. So here is how it goes. The first two issues of my comic were combined to form one large first issue. This shortened the production schedule of the first 7 issues and so the whole thing got pushed back. The release date is now March2010 and I have been doing other randomness ever since. I am working on a "secret project" that hopefully wont be too time consuming and a painting for a planet of the apes novel. This should be sweet. Starenko is working on this book too so i guess i can say that i worked with him in some odd way. --- ok yeah so thats whats up with me.
On an unrelated note, I felt that i needed some inspiration for my own work and took out 3 books from the library. 1) The Audubon Society book of Instects 2) H.P. Lovecraft collection 3)Encyclopedia of the Unexplained. I have this theory that if I read these books at the same time, I will make something awesome. I have always liked that "Lepidopterous(sic)" (chitinous flying insect like) look for things that are supposed to supernatural or otherworldly. It makes things seem more plausable and with the HP and the Occult book driving the feel and context of the thoughts in my head with the look and detail found in the Insect book Im sure ill be able to make something awesome. ...... alas no one will ever read this so I will just have to hang my head in shame and say, "till next time"

FEVER!!

Popup book illustrations? No problem! Tshirt design? suuuure. Coloring an entire comic... ah dammit this is harder than i thought. Considering the way i work my book has a tendency to get very muddy looking very fast depending on which blending mode im using. Due to the death of my grandfather i have been away for a few days and now i need to work harder than ever in order to get this book out the door on time-ish. I will make my grandfather proud and work my ass off. it is a shame he will never see the finished product. Project ETA: T-minus 1 week. Departure date T-minus 4weeks 1day.... 4WEEKS 1 DAY!? I move in 4 weeks!!!???

The times.... they are a' changin'

Ah yes soon I will be moving from Brooklyn, NewYork, my home for the past 3 years, to Manchester, Connecticut... with my parents. This in an attempt to help them pay off my student loan while saving some cash on the side. My loan, is 812$ a month and is the bane of my existence. Yeah sure i could probably get a higher paying job doing......... anything (well not anything, but college degree anything) other than comics but its a start and I'll just have to see where it goes from there. Honestly I am scared shitless about what my life is going to be like for the next few years but its what i gotta do. Gotta save that money. Alright so this is all well and good but here is something interesting. I participated in a little exercise in concept design over at ArtOrder (Jon Schindehette the art director for Wizards of the Coast.... his blog). All who enter were tasked with designing an evolved version of the cockatrice from D&D (or mythology if you think about it) this was mine. It was very interesting to see everyones take on the creature. I dont think i evolved mine enough. Personal favorites were this and this. Best thought out and best rendered of the bunch. This week the creature in question is a race of little critters called teh Garreth..... Not sure if i will get to this one. Reeeeeeeeeealy want to though.

Post NYCC

Yes I cant believe it either.... I am back to Blogging. So, I went to New York Comic-Con and had an interview with the Wizards of the Coast people. Specifically their head art director and the concept artist for Magic the Gathering. They agreed that I could in fact draw, and, had I had something relevant to their interests perhaps i could have been offered a job. However, i was told to keep up the good work and send them work throughout the near future. Not a terrible loss and they were very nice guys. Considering i was the last interviewee of the day i got to talk to them for a bit as they closed up shop..... so that happened. After the con i tracked down where my grandparents used to live in NYC and took some pictures and a small(shitty) video of the outside of their building. BUT WAIT WAIT WAIT..... OUR CONTRACT IS FINALLY SIGNED!!! I now work for KUNOICHI, a publisher of comics..... well technically the writer of my book is and im employed under him but whatever its all coming together!!!
