The times.... they are a' changin'
Ah yes soon I will be moving from Brooklyn, NewYork, my home for the past 3 years, to Manchester, Connecticut... with my parents. This in an attempt to help them pay off my student loan while saving some cash on the side. My loan, is 812$ a month and is the bane of my existence. Yeah sure i could probably get a higher paying job doing......... anything (well not anything, but college degree anything) other than comics but its a start and I'll just have to see where it goes from there. Honestly I am scared shitless about what my life is going to be like for the next few years but its what i gotta do. Gotta save that money. Alright so this is all well and good but here is something interesting. I participated in a little exercise in concept design over at ArtOrder (Jon Schindehette the art director for Wizards of the Coast.... his blog). All who enter were tasked with designing an evolved version of the cockatrice from D&D (or mythology if you think about it) this was mine. It was very interesting to see everyones take on the creature. I dont think i evolved mine enough. Personal favorites were this and this. Best thought out and best rendered of the bunch. This week the creature in question is a race of little critters called teh Garreth..... Not sure if i will get to this one. Reeeeeeeeeealy want to though.

Post NYCC
Yes I cant believe it either.... I am back to Blogging. So, I went to New York Comic-Con and had an interview with the Wizards of the Coast people. Specifically their head art director and the concept artist for Magic the Gathering. They agreed that I could in fact draw, and, had I had something relevant to their interests perhaps i could have been offered a job. However, i was told to keep up the good work and send them work throughout the near future. Not a terrible loss and they were very nice guys. Considering i was the last interviewee of the day i got to talk to them for a bit as they closed up shop..... so that happened. After the con i tracked down where my grandparents used to live in NYC and took some pictures and a small(shitty) video of the outside of their building. BUT WAIT WAIT WAIT..... OUR CONTRACT IS FINALLY SIGNED!!! I now work for KUNOICHI, a publisher of comics..... well technically the writer of my book is and im employed under him but whatever its all coming together!!!
